Welcome

My name is Rafael Oganesyan and I am a doctoral candidate at the Department of Political Science. I specialize in how the economy impacts electoral outcomes. My research interests include voter behavior, post-Soviet politics and compulsory voting.

Currently, I am completing my dissertation, The Post-Soviet Voter: Evidence from the Caucasus, which traces behavioral traits of voters in Armenia and Georgia.

Recently, I was awarded the The President's UNLV Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship so that I may further explore the vote calculus in the post-Soviet space. Aside from my field work in the Eurasian region, I have published peer-reviewed works in the following areas:

  • European Union Public Policy
  • Economic Voting in France and the EU
